HEALTH bosses say they can no longer release detailed information about outbreaks of swine flu in the county's schools because of the ever-increasing volume of cases.
The Review has been keeping readers up to date with suspected and confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus among pupils at schools in the district.
We reported last week how two pupils from Nicholas Breakspear in St Albans tested positive for the bug and how Heathlands Hearing School for Deaf Children had been forced to close because of a suspected case among teaching staff.
We also broke news of the first pupil in the district to be struck with swine flu - a pupil from St Columbus College in King Harry Lane.
But Rose Child, spokeswoman for West Herts PCT, said it is no longer possible to keep the public informed of swine flu victims in Hertfordshire's schools.
She said: "There's so many cases we are no longer getting details of how many numbers in schools.
"We are not able to contain it - it's widespread.
"The national advice is not to close schools unless there's special circumstances.
"If a school does close parents will get the information."
