DETAILS of a series of collisions on the A414 in Hatfield last night have been confirmed by police.
The Review earlier reported that four cars had collided in Hertford Road, however, there were actually two crashes at different times.
The first happened just after 5pm near Holwell. A silver Ford Focus and a green Peugeot 206 collided.
There were no injuries and the drivers exchanged their insurance details.
The second occured on the same road just before 7pm where the emergency services were called to reports of a car smashing into the central reservation.
Hertfordshire Constabulary dashed to the scene and the officers parked their patrol car in a lay-by.
At the time of the officers helping the driver at the central reservation, a Renault Megane and a Toyota Yaris collided, and the Toyota smashed into the police car. A woman in that car was trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters and paramedics.
She was taken to the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City with minor injuries, as was the driver of the Renault.
