A BLACK tern, a scarce migrant bird, was an exotic visitor to the main lake of Verulamium Park in St Albans on Friday.
Black terns, which nest in southern and eastern Europe, are seen in Britain on migration only and, unlike the widespread common terns, are rare in Hertfordshire, particularly in mid-summer.
