A LOVABLE bear will drop into Welwyn Garden City on Monday to launch a new method of donating to national charity Children in Need.
The charity's mascot, Pudsey Bear, will be making a special visit to the Costcutter store in Bridge Road East to launch the new Paypoint donation service. Although donations can be made online, on the phone, or at banks, post offices and building societies, the new payment scheme is more convenient for those who want to donate but, for whatever reason, are unable to do so straight away.
Customers to convenience stores can use the free service to donate cash straight from their wallet, making it much easier to support Children In Need.
It is the first year that people will be able to make donations to Children in Need at Paypoint outlets.
Paypoint's UK headquarters is based in Welwyn Garden City, so it is launching the charity's new donation system in the town before introducing the scheme to various locations nationwide.
The charity's annual appeal night this year is Friday, November 20, and it is hoped the total money raised will exceed last year's £20,991,216.
Pudsey Bear will be in Welwyn Garden City on Monday, September 7, from 10am.
