THE landlord of an award-winning pub has spoken to the Review after scooping a major prize for his plentiful supply of ales.

As reported by the Review yesterday, the Harpenden Arms in the High Street took home the trophy for Best Pub Cellar 2009 at the Great British Pub Awards.

The black tie ceremony took place in the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, London, on Wednesday, September 9.

Landlord of the Harpenden Arms Bryan Walsh, told the Review today: "It was amazing, this is one of the biggest awards in the industry.

"The best thing about the award that I won is that I had to be nominated for the award by our cellar support team.

"It's still sinking in really because it's a massive thing."

Mr Walsh has previously been recognised at other competitions celebrating the best pubs in the industry, being named as Fuller's Master Cellarman in 2008.
