A TOP Lib Dem politician has been put in the spotlight by a Review reader over the loss of sensitive data from St Albans District Council.
Chris Huhne, his party's home affairs spokesman, has been widely quoted blasting a scandal at mobile-phone giant T-Mobile, in which the Hatfield-based company was caught selling data to other firms.
He told the Times: “This shameful incident shows the disdain with which some companies treat sensitive personal data.
"Stiffer penalties for those involved in serious data breaches, whether in the public or private sector, can not be introduced soon enough.”
Reader Bob Sanderson said: “So, what does he think about this incident at St Albans District Council, that is, of course, run and controlled by his Lib Dems.
“Perhaps he will comment to the Review.”
A spokesman at the party's headquarters told the Review Mr Huhne would not be commenting, saying : “T-Mobile sold data to another mobile phone company, and in St Albans a laptop was stolen. They are quite different.
“I can't see what there is to comment on.”
