VITAL funds raised by Harpenden Golf Club will be donated towards a charity which provides terminally ill adults and children with a once-in-a-lifetime day out of their dreams.
Mike Frost contacted the Review following his successful year as captain and fundraising efforts by the members at the club.
A Christmas raffle, charity golf day and an auction together with donations from other local businesses and individuals has gathered £6,100 for the Willow Foundation.
Mr Frost said: "The choice of charity is down to the captain. "I decided to choose the Willow Foundation because I bought Bob Wilson's autobiography when I once met him and he is a very charming man.
"As a football fan the book was great but I was very much taken by the last chapter in which Bob talks very fondly of his daughter and ever since then I have wanted to help the charity."
The cheque will be handed over by Mr Frost, current captain John Grover and other committee members on Monday, November 30.
The Willow Foundation was set up by Arsenal legend Bob Wilson and his wife Megs following the death of their daughter. The cause arranges for young adults between the ages of 16 to 40 with terminal or potentially life-threatening illnesses to meet their heroes or provide dream days out.
