A COURSE to help potential housing tenants in St Albans will be expanded after a successful pilot scheme ended last week.

In co-operation with Oaklands College, the district council offered a five-week course, designed to prevent problems often experienced by new tenants, covering areas such literacy, numeracy, healthy eating and money management.

After one participant described it as "a pre-requisite of any offer of council accommodation", the authority has decided to run three more this academic year and one in the summer as well.
