Successful St Albans charity art show

THE art exhibition in the Town Hall over the weekend raised more than £1,500 for St Albans Mayor Chris Oxley's nominated charities.

About 30 paintings by local artists were sold, with ten per cent giong to the charities, the St Albans Citizens Advice Bureau and the Council for Voluntary Services.

Councillor Oxley said: “The success was not only financial - a huge number of visitors attended including some from Bristol and some from Hungary and Holland.

"They all enjoyed the range and quality of the art. It confirmed what so many of us know alread. Our city and district is a wonderful place in which to live and has a huge range of cultural activities - a place we can be proud of.”
