SCHOOLCHILDREN in St Albans and Welwyn Garden City will be the first in Hertfordshire to learn about the dangers of electricity next week.
EDF Energy, which owns and mantains the electricity network, is starting a programme of safety workshops at Prae Wood Primary School, St Albans, on Tuesday, before visiting Applecroft in Welwyn Garden City on Thursday.
The hour-long sessions will cover topics such as the hazards of playing near substations and overhead power lines, how high voltage electricity can jump gaps, and the dangers of fishing rods and kites.
