LESS than £30,000 is needed to make the cinema dream in St Albans a reality.
Cinema entrepreneur James Hannaway had by Sunday night amassed a grand total of £971,000 towards the £1 million cost of buying the Odeon Cinema in London Road.
He said: "This is a crucial week. It looks like we will make it to the £1 million before long. However, it is not the time to celebrate just yet. There is still much to do. I'll keep you posted day by day with a full breakdown when it's available. We will prepare the necessary papers and legal paraphernalia for exchange. In the meantime we must keep going with this final push to raise the last amount.
"It has been an extraordinary few weeks, raising such a phenomenal sum in such a short time. And exclusively from those who have sent their money solely to see the cinema restored from the ashes of the old - and for no other reason. There have been times when it looked hopeless. Now we're nearly there, you should stay closer than ever."
