BIRDWATCHERS have been attracted to a nature reserve on the outskirts of Welwyn Garden City by two jack snipe, scarce and secretive wading birds.

Since Saturday, they have been feeding at the side of a small lake front of a hide at Tewinbury Farm, Digswell, alongside a few common snipe.

Jack snipe, only seen in Britain during cold weather, are smaller than common snipe, with much shorter bills and distinctive plumage differences.
