King of the Jungle Gino D'Acampo swings by St Albans

CELEBRITY chef Gino D'Acampo will be cooking up a storm in St Albans this afternoon when he drops into the city.

The chef, who runs an Italian food supplier in Radlett, will be signing copies of his new book in the Robert Dyas store in St Peters Street from 1.30pm.

Mr D'Acampo was crowned jungle king after spending three weeks in the Australian rainforest on ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here! last year.

But he continued to make headlines following his victorious exit when he and fellow jungle buddy Stuart Manning, better known for playing Russ in Hollyoaks, became embroiled in an animal cruelty row.

The programme makers were fined around 3,000 Australian dollers (£1,903) after the chef cooked and ate a rat during the reality series. It is illegal for animals to be killed as part of a production or performance.
