POLICE in Hertfordshire have been given a glowing report today, as one of only four forces in the country with a "triple good" ranking.
Hertfordshire Constabulary was ranked "good" in all three categories of a new "report card" assessment by Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary.
In her report, inspector Zoe Billingham said: "Hertfordshire Constabulary provides a consistently high standard of policing service to its local communities and enjoys some of the highest levels of public confidence and satisfaction in England and Wales.
"Its crime rates are lower than in similar places and violent crime is among the lowest nationally.
The Constabulary delivers good performance in reducing and solving crime.”
The three categories are Local Crime and Policing, Protection from Serious Harm, and Public Confidence and Satisfaction.
Hertfordshire was also praised for the way it tackle anti-social behaviour and for its collaboration work with Bedfordshire.
Chief Constable Frank Whiteley said: “This is an excellent report that builds on many years of consistently improving performance. It is a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of the officers, staff, Specials and volunteers, as well as support from the county council and other partners. "Not least, however, it a result of the support we enjoy from the public in Hertfordshire which we aim to repay by aiming to further improve the services we provide to them.”
Stuart Nagler, Chairman of Hertfordshire Police Authority, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the chief constable and all his officers and staff. "We were also pleased that the report highlighted the value for money that the constabulary provides, and its ability to deliver high performance for relatively low cost.”
As the nationwide reports were announced this morning, chief inspector Denis O'Conner said they had identified serious weaknesses in recording anti-social behaviour, with many forces oblivious to people making repeat complaints.
