BNP face off in Markyate shunned

ANTI-BNP activists have snubbed an offer of a question and answer session with a far right supporter in Markyate.

Anti fascist campaigners passed up BNP Markyate Parish Councillor Simon Deacon's proposed question and answer style debate in the village hall, insisting it would breach their long held policy to share a platform with the controversial party.

Mark Smith of Unite Against Fascism (UAF) said: "We have a policy - we don't share platforms with members of BNP.

"If we stand on a platform with a BNP member it legitimises them, it makes them seem normal.

"I have political disagreements with members of the Conservative Party and UKIP and I would have a politcal exchange with these people, but fascists ideas are off the scale. Their ideas end up in concentration camps."

Before his face off was outrightly shunned, Mr Deacon said: "If they want to bring 20 or 30 people I will stand there on my own and I'm willing to answer any question they throw at me. I'll even serve them tea and coffee. I have nothing to hide, Lets see if they can do something and be civil."

Debating with the BNP is right and oroper, because we ARE a legitimate and bona fide political Party. The reason why we are denied a platform is because we would dispel the lies told and make very clear who the REAL Fascists are. The first act of a Fascist is to deny their political opponents a platform and then inflict violence upon. The UAF have done both in the past and would do it again.

I don't support or agree with the BNP in any way but I must say that the UAF behaves more like a facist party than any I've ever seen in this country. It seeks to silence all parties that don't agree with them which is the essence of facism in my opinion. This country has a completely unsustainable population considering our limited space, infrastructure and financial resources and yet anyone who dares to mention immigration is immediately branded a racist by the UAF. These people while well-meaning, really make 1984 seem like a near-future event.

These UAF folks are doing a great job and making the BNP look good.

MHayworth doesn't "support or agree with the BNP in any way" but then goes on to do just that.
No problem, but why not just admit that you agree with them. It's a free country and you might find the experience liberating!

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. Plato.......

This just goes to show the UAF (United Against Freedom) do not have a leg to stand on in a head to head debate as they have no argument or contest

United against Freedom have shown the British people exactly what they are with the violence in Bolton last weekend
These are the same people who twice smashed a claw hammer in to a guys head whilst handing out BNP leafletts in Liverpool for the EU elections last year
Tony Ward survived .

The UAF are nothing than facists they say they deplore.
Lets see if their Marxist/Communist ideoligy plays out to its fullest with repression of the masses when push comes to shove, I think it will.

Could someone please inform Mr Smith that the BNP are a legitimate political party and they are quite normal.
