THE desperate bid by residents to close Barley Mow Lane, to combat a long history of fly-tipping, speeding and anti-social behaviour, has moved one step closer to reality.

This weekend a public exhibition has been held in Tyttenhanger by Hertfordshire Highways to showcase the proposals for a gating order.

In April last year highways officers gave the green-light for a temporary gating order to curb the problems faced in the village lane.

A consultation has since been launched followed by the exhibition where residents have come along and had their say on the proposals.

St Albans MP Anne Main, who has worked closely with villagers who form the Barley Mow Safety Forum, to secure their safety is glad things a moving along with the plans.

She told the Review: “We have been working on this for four years now and it's getting somewhere.”
