HEALTH bosses are likely to confirm next week that the maternity unit at Hemel Hempstead Hospital will not be reopened.
The board of NHS West Hertfordshire will meet in Harpenden on Tuesday to consider the results of a consultation on maternity services.
Officials are recommending that the birthing unit, used by some mothers in Harpenden, Redbourn and west St Albans, should not be re-commissioned.
