MORE than £300 was raised during a charity car wash at St Albans fire station this weekend.

On Saturday cars were rolling up to be scrubbed clean by firefighters keen to gather cash to support colleagues injured on duty.

A total of £365 was donated by residents treated to a wash and polish at the London Road station – out of which £275 will go towards the Firefighters' charity and the rest will benefit firefighter Tom Bachman and his friends who are off on a charity mission to Rwanda in May.

The St Albans crew thank everyone who supported them especially Halfords who donated most of the car washing equipment.
