Harpenden rail death victim was a man

A MAN died after being struck by a train near Harpenden rail station, the British Transport Police has confirmed.

The emergency services were called to the station at 8.15pm on Saturday, March 20.

Spokeswoman for the British Transport Police Jenny Dickins said: “BTP can confirm that a man died after being struck by a train near to Harpenden rail station.

“The incident was reported to police at 8.16pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary also attended, alongside paramedics from the East of England ambulance service. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The train involved was the 6.55pm Derby to London service.

An inquest is still to be opened and adjourned.
