A GANG of men have been arrested on suspicion of rape and robbery following assaults on two women in Hatfield.

Two men, both aged 20, were arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of rape and robbery on May 2 and assault by penetration and kidnap on May 5.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested last night by Metropolitan police officers for the same offences. All are from the Wembley area of London and are currently in police custody.

A 21-year-old woman was walking alone in Bishops Rise, between 2am and 3am, last Wednesday when she was approached by a car containing three Asian men - all believed to be in their twenties. They forced the victim into the car and one of them sexually assaulted her before they let her go.

Just three days earlier, a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man at an address in Mosquito Way. Following the assualt on Sunday, between 6pm and 8pm, the victim was escorted to a cash point at the university campus by three men. They then returned the woman to her home after stealing her purse and mobile.

The arrests followed investigations by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team.
