SALON staff helped raise more than £1,000 for one of the UK’s leading children’s charities and leukaemia research during a day of serial snipping at slashed prices.

Sanrizz joined a new fundraising intiative, HAIRraising, which aims to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Leukaemia Research.

Staff at the branch in the Maltings worked free of charge on Sunday, July 4, with all the money raised from discounted cuts, styling and selected colour treatments donated to the cause.

Salon manager Sharon Cox said: "I am touched and overwhelmed by the support from the salon team and clients, their generosity and kindness to such important charities has been astounding. I know everyone had great fun in fancy dress while raising the money."

Sanrizz, number one hair and beauty salon in our annual Retailer of the Year competition in 2009, will split the money equally between the two charities.
