STAFF at a popular chain restaurant in Flamstead have set themselves a target to raise more than £1,000 for a children's charity.
Chefs, waiters and waitresses at the Flamstead Harvester will be taking part in sponsored walks, bike rides and fun days to raise vital cash for the Make a Wish Foundation, which grants special days out for sick children and those with life threatening illnesses.
The restaurant will be among 175 Harvesters across the country taking part ina mkonth of fundraising, which last year riased more than £50,000 for charity.
Diners will also have an opprtunity to enter a raffle, with prizes such as a family holiday to Disneyland Paris and ten Apple iPod Nanos up for grabs.
Manager Steve Hardy said: “We’re urging people in Flamstead to come along to the Harvester and donate just £2 to help make a difference to children and young people across the country, and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes. Myself and my staff also have some other great fundraising ideas, so watch this space.”
Karen England, spokeswoman for the charity, Make-A-said: “It’s fantastic to see that Harvester is aiming to raise even more money this year, and beat last year’s impressive record. We are delighted to be working with Harvester for the fifth year running, increasing awareness of our work as well as raising much needed funds that will add magic to the lives of special children. Make-A-Wish is a great charity to support and you can see directly the real difference a donation brings to a child’s life."
