St Albans garden centre scoops two industry awards

GREEN-FINGERED staff at a St Albans garden centre are celebrating a double victory after scooping two awards recognising their work.

The team at Burston Garden Centre won two gold awards at The Greatest Awards ceremony.

The family-run garden centre, in North Orbital Road, scooped 'The Greatest Plants Sales Team South East' and 'The Greatest Large Garden Centre Team UK'.

Top snooker champion Steve Davis, who presented Burston Garden Centre with its trophy, certificates and champagne, attended the awards ceremony, which was held at The National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham.

The team say they are especially delighted after winning two silver awards last year.

Retail manager Darren Pattinson said: “The awards mean so much to us, especially as all the votes come from our customers. We couldn’t have had such success without them.

“More than 1,400 customers voted for us and we received such lovely comments complementing our staff teams. We will be personally thanking all the customers who voted.”

Managing director Carole Goodchild added: “The awards are a proud moment in our history and are a fitting reward for all the hard work the staff have put in.”

Burston Garden Centre has also opened a new garden shop in the grounds of Hatfield House.
