A popular community pub and live music venue has closed its doors for refurbishment ready to unveil a new look next week with a celebratory opening night.
Inn on the Green, a favourite for the town's young people, closed its doors on Monday, July 26, for a much-needed makeover.
The pub, in Leyton Road, run by brewery Greene King, will reopen under its current management on Thursday, August 6, with a new menu, extended drinks selection, and a refurbished bar and seating area.
Rumours the town's social hub was set to be transformed into an upmarket gastropub, ending a ten-year reign for landlords Mick and Jacqui Hill, devastated punters, who earlier this year, launched an online petition to mobilise opposition against the plans.
Mick said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming our customers back to the newly-refurbished pub once the work is complete. We are currently planning a special opening night for Thursday where we will unveil our fresh new-look.”
