AN official name for the restored Odeon cinema will be announced tomorrow, when the public are given a new chance to tour the London Road building.
Although enthusiast James Hannaway, who has bought the disused cinema with the help of £1 million donated by the public, has been using the Alpha as a working name, he has asked for suggestions for a title for the project once restoration is complete.
The chosen name will be announced at about 1pm in the main auditorium, with the cinema open from noon.
His spokeswoman Denise Hicks said: "For those who visited before, this is your chance to see progress. For those new to the building, come and see the marathon task be completed over the next two years.
"James Hannaway will again be giving visitors the opportunity to ask questions about the renovation and the vision for the finished cinema.
"Now is the time for a fresh name to reflect all kinds of things, both cinematic and local to St Albans."
After the announcement, there will be a guided walk tracing the life and achievements of film pioneer Arthur Melbourne-Cooper, who founded the cinema.
