A heritage fair greeted shoppers in Hatfield this morning, encouraging people to better understand their local history.
Members of the Welwyn and Hatfield Heritage Forum set up stalls in White Lion Square and tempted passers by with a little bit of social history.
Archive photos and diaries gave an insight into the lifestyles of Hatfield residents from years gone by, and manager of Welwyn Hatfield Museum Caroline Rawle said the fair fed people's appetite for local history.
“We want to make people aware of what is around them. People have an interest in this but many do not know how to get involved. I am always amazed at the level of interest and the numbers that come and visit and today is no different.”
Dozens of people gathered at the stalls, getting an insight into the history of the area and Hatfield resident Derek Martindale explained why people should get involved.
“I think these fairs are very good and it is important people know where they come from. If people do not understand where they come from, how can they move forward?”
