TURN to alternative means of travel and leave your car at home later this month in a bid to cut congestion and carbon dioxide emissions.
St Albans District Council is hosting its annual car free day on Sunday, September 26, when residents are being urged to leave their vehicles at home.
The event, which is run in conjunction with Hertfordshire County Council, encourages people to cut down their car usage.
To raise awareness, the council is asking residents to travel into the city centre using alternative means of transport for the event being held between midday and 3pm in St Peter's Street.
Entertainment will include bike races, organised cycle rides, free historic walks, treasure hints, circus skills workshops and craft activities.
Visitors will also have the chance to take a ride on an electric bike and in a rickshaw for free.
Information on environmentally friendly forms of transport will be available.
