A 12-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries after falling from an escalator at the Galleria yesterday afternoon.
The East of England Ambulance Service was to the Hatfield shopping centre at 2.27pm.
Due to the nature of the call received, consultant anaesthetist Dr Martyn Wildman form the QEII Hospital was also required to attend.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “One of our emergency care practitioners, Mark Giddens, who was first at the scene quickly recognised the patient was in a serious condition.
"Due to this, Dr Wildman arrived and worked closely with the paramedics to treat, stabilise and immobilise the injured boy.”
The boy was rushed to the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City where he is currently undergoing further tests and is in a stable condition.
