THE driver of a car involved in a lorry crash on the M1 today has suffered life-threatening injuries, paramedics have revealed.
The East of England Ambulance Service is currently at the scene with firefighters and police following the collision southbound between junctions 9 (Redbourn) and 8 (A414 Hemel Hempstead).
Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the service, said: βAt present our team of paramedics and doctors are working extremely hard to treat, stabilise and immobilise a man who is trapped in a car.
"He has received life-threatening injuries.β
The southbound carriageway has been closed to all traffic at junction 9. Heavy traffic has built up on the northbound carriageway as drivers slow down past the scene. Motorists are being warned to avoid the area.
