TODDLERS mobbed guest of honour Peppa Pig at the opening of a new children’s centre in Shenley yesterday.

Based at Shenley Primary School, in London Road, youngsters were entertained by the popular character before executive member for children’s services, county councillor Jane Pitman (Conservative, Braughing), helped cut the celebratory ribbon.

The new centre will offer families, with children aged up to five years old, parenting courses, baby massage, and music and movement sessions. All support is offered free of charge.

Susie Scutt, team leader for Borehamwood, Elstree and Shenley Children’s Centre, said: “The new centre is in prime position at the front of Shenley Primary School, which makes us feel part of this lovely school.

“Emma Cole, the acting Head, has been incredibly supportive. She is respectful and enthusiastic about what we at the Children’s Centre can offer her families. We are working in partnership so that the Children’s Centre can offer tailored services to meet the needs of her families.

“We look forward to raising our profile even more and making the Children’s Centre a huge success for the local families. We are here to support and advise parents/carers making parenting a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience for both the parents/carers and the children.”
