A GROUP of football fans will take part in a gruelling football marathon next month – by visiting all 92 English league grounds in just 92 hours.

Matthew Bigg, 37, who lives in the Verulam Estate, is taking on the challenge to raise much-needed cash for his son’s junior football club, Harvesters FC.

Starting at Watford’s Vicarage Road Stadium at 9am on April 27, he will be joined by Dad Colin and friends Kris Babb and Simon Dickerson.

The lads aim to finish at Brighton & Hove Albion for the Seagulls’ home game against Huddersfield Town.

Mr Bigg was inspired to take part in the event by his eight-year-old son Alfie, whose club relies on donations to keep going.

He said: “This is about supporting grass roots football. Harvester’s is becoming a hotbed of some great footballing talent, but in these difficult times we need some extra help to keep up the good work the club has worked so hard for since the early days.

“We hope this event, be it just seen as ‘a lad’s own tour’, might put the aspiration of young footballers back on the map for clubs like ours all over the country.”
