STAFF and customers at a St Albans charity shop joined together this morning to launch an unusual fundraising campaign, which will encourage women to “bag up their bras” for a good cause.
The Hospice of St Francis, in Berkhamsted, is encouraging women of all ages to donate unwanted items of underwear, which will be sent for recycling in Africa.
The campaign, supported by actress Lynda Bellingham, was launched at the charity’s shop in The Quadrant, Marshalswick, this morning.
Mrs Bellingham, famed for removing her bra in the stage show Calendar Girls, said: “Recent statistics show that on average women have four bras lurking in their drawers that are too uncomfortable or the wrong size. It's simple - Give them to the hospice.”
