POWER tools were stolen from a Harpenden golf club after the greenkeeper's shed was broken into.

Between 1.15pm and 1.20pm on Tuesday, October 25, five items were stolen from Alwickbury Park Golf Club in Piggottshill Lane.

Police believe a car, with three men inside, was driven to the shed before two went inside to take the tools, while a third man waited in the car.

A member of staff, who heard them, was threatened after appraoching the men - who made off in the direction of Wheathampstead Road.

Items stolen were: a Stihl pole saw, a Kawasaki strimmer, a Stihl hedge trimmer, a Stihl chainsaw and a Stihl leaf blower.

One of the suspects who went into the shed is described as a white man, aged about 25.

The other was aged about 18 with slightly tanned skin and possibly of Asian appearance. He was wearing a red hoody with a white pattern or writing on the front.

PC Pippa Child said: β€œI would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw three men acting suspiciously in a car or around the golf club to contact me as soon as possible.

β€œIt may be that you have seen these items for sale as well or can identify those responsible for this crime. If so, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information can telephone police on the non-emergency number 101.
