THE poor level of service provided by owners of the Thameslink line has once again come under fire from St Albans MP Anne Main following the recent hike in rail fares.
Mrs Main, who has been monitoring Network Rail's performance after complaints from service users, has expressed her concerns.
She said: "The level of service my constituents receive is unacceptable and I am urging the Secretary of State to give a statement on Network Rail.
"I have deep reservations about Network Rail retaining the network franchise or having the ability to improve. Their poor performance impacts First Capital Connect and commuters and other train users are paying a high price for erratic service.
"I believe this should now be tackled at government level."
A protest was held at St Albans City Station, on Tuesday, January 3, in protest of the above-inflation fare rises.
Research has since revealed the St Albans to London commute, which now costs almost £3,000 for an annual season ticket, is the most expensive in England.
