LONG-AWAITED works to resurface a pothole-filled road near Harpenden train station were finally completed last year, but a kerb installed has continued to cause disruption for drivers.
For more than a year drivers have been faced with swerving into ditches to avoid damaging their cars in Station Approach, a road which is used to access the station car park.
Towards the end of December Network Rail carried out the work needed. However, drivers continued to complain - now about a roadside kerb which was also installed. They said it had made the road too narrow to access.
Maria Moyses, who commutes from Harpenden station, said: "For about a month there was a kerb which severely restricted the width of the road and because it's so close to the junction it was really causing a problem."
Councillor Dean Russell, who spent months last year chasing both Network Rail and First Capital Connect after seeing the state of the road, said he is glad it is finally resurfaced. He said the kerb has also been removed.
Larry Heyman, integration and partnership manager for First Capital Connect, said Network Rail's contractors undertook remedial work removing the kerb on Thursday. January 5, and Friday, January 6.
