POLICE have confirmed a woman was killed when she was hit by a train a St Albans station yesterday morning.
The British Transport Police has said initial reports at the time suggested the person who died was a man.
However following further investigations the victim has been identified as a 36-year-old woman from Luton.
A spokesperson for the BTP said they are still awaiting a formal identification and to inform her next of kin.
St Albans City station was evacuated and services on the Thameslink line ground to a halt yesterday morning, at 9.45am, after the woman was hit by a fast train at platform three.
