SCOUTS and Guides across the district are putting the finishing touches to this year’s Gang Show performances as they prepare to take to the stage next week.
The annual sell-out show will take place at the Alban Arena and the 124 performers aged 11 to 25 have been busy putting together dance routines and sketches to entertain the crowds.
Cast member Luke Collins, 12, will be taking to the stage for the first time and carrying on a family tradition. Both his parents took part when they were children and his sister Jodi is also in the show.
He said: “I’m so excited at performing in my first Gang Show. We have been rehearsing since last October and I’ve made so many new friends.”
The show includes intricately choreographed song and dance routines, quick costumes changes and a number of comedy sketches, supported by a 14 piece band.
It’s the sixth show for Laura Paul, 17, who said: “There’s nothing quite like the buzz you get from being a cast member in the St Albans Gang Show. The feeling you get when the curtain goes up is truly fantastic and I can’t wait until our opening night.”
The 33rd St Albans Scout and Gang Show will play to almost 4,000 people during its five shows which run until Saturday, February 11.
Producer David Barker said the cast is working hard to put together the finishing touches before the opening night on Wednesday, February 8.
