An Olympic athlete visited a school in St Albans this morning to launch a new 2012 fundraiser.
Ed Cox, a canoe sprinter, lead an assembly at Wheatfields Infant School in Downes Road to kick start the children’s new Gold Challenge.
Pupils at the school have been set the task of travelling 2012 kilometres collectively over the next few weeks to raise money the children’s charity Whizz Kidz with the hope of creating more wheelchairs for disabled young people.
Louise Bowen, PE coordinator at the school, said: "We wanted to raise awareness of what it means to be healthy and fit.
"It was a brilliant day – the children were really excited and asked lots of questions."
