Trees stolen from front garden

More than 30 trees have been stolen from the front garden of a home in St Albans.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the theft of 31 Leylandii trees from a garden in Mile House Lane between 2pm on Sunday, February 5 and 11am the following morning. .

PC Adam Wills, the investigating officer from the St Albans Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The trees were around seven foot high and would have taken some time to remove.

“It is possible that there are lots of witnesses who believed that it was a legitimate removal at the time.”

The trees were planted on the outside of the garden fence but were still on the victim’s land.

PC Wills added: “I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the trees being taken or any other suspicious activity, to contact me as soon as possible.

“It is likely that the offenders used a lorry or truck to remove the trees and this may have been in the area for some time.”

Anyone with information should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101.
