A Gang Show staged by youngsters across the district wowed a senior figure in the Scout movement.
Organisers said John May, vice chairman of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement, who saw the show at the Alban Arena on Thursday, was so impressed by the production he declared it was the best one he had ever seen.
The 33rd St Albans Scout and Guide Gang Show involved more than 120 youngsters, ages 11 to 25, and ran for five days, with the final performance on Saturday.
They took part in a colourful, lively show with more than 30 songs and sketches.
Producer David Barker said: "To have had a member of the World Scout Committee attend our show was a tremendous honour in itself.
"John May has seen many shows across the whole of the world and the fact that he considered ours as the best he has ever seen is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved."
The award-winning show included intricately choreographed song and dance routines, lightning-quick costume changes, a number of comedy sketches and a 14-piece band.
