Members of churches across Harpenden are to stage a Passion Play which will be performed in the streets of the town at Easter.
The drama, called Witness, by Nick Warburton, will be performed on Easter Saturday, April 7.
Elizabeth Briggs from High Street Players said: "We believe that this is the first time that most of the churches of Harpenden have joined together to present a Passion Play in the streets of Harpenden."
The actors plan to start by walking along the High Street to the sensory garden and assemble on the concourse outside High Street church to enact a section of Luke's Gospel.
The action will move to the green in front of the public halls where the incident of the man possessed with demons will be presented. The audience will then be invited into the main public hall to witness the rest of the story.
A team made up of people from various churches are overseeing the production and the event will run from 3pm to 5.30pm.
It will be free for people to watch, but there will be an opportunity to make a contribution.
