Residents of a block of flats in St Albans were evacuated when a fire started in the building’s bin store yesterday evening.
Firefighters were called to deal with the small blaze in Telford Court at 7.20pm.
A number of occupants were advised to leave their flats because of smoke drifting into the building through a waste chute.
Two crews from St Albans and one from Hatfield were sent to deal with the incident though a representative said it remains unclear how the fire was started.
