St Albans councillor Chris White has stood down as leader of Hertfordshire County Council's Liberal Democrat group.
Watford councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst has been promoted to become the leader of the opposition group's top slot at County Hall.
Councillor Giles Medhurst had been the party’s deputy leader before stepping up to the job on the Conservative-run council this week.
Councillor Giles-Medhurst said: "I will try to set the high standards that Chris did as leader exposing the weakness of the Conservative-run county council while pushing forward policies that benefit all residents, not just a few."
