A MAN suffered serious injuries to his face following an "unprovoked" attack in Harpenden in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police were called to St Albans Road at 12.30am to reports a 31-year-old man had been assaulted.
Detective Constable Sonja Townsend said: "This was an unprovoked assault which has left the victim with quite serious injuries to his face."
She has appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time, or anyone with information on the attack to come forward and telephone the police non emergency number 101.
Two men from Harpenden, aged 18 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the investigation and have been released on bail.
