A shopper has described the moments she heard someone had a replica gun in St Peters Street, St Albans, this afternoon.
Police are currently at the scene of a suspected robbery of a G4S security van outside the Halifax branch in the city centre.
A 17-year-old woman who was in the area said a man was tackled to the ground after it was heard he had a replica gun.
Officers are currently surrounding a man sitting on a chair outside Marks & Spencer.
There is a cordon in place between Marks & Spencer and Clintons Cards.
A G4S van parked outside the Halifax also has police tape around it.
It is believed Metropplitan Police officers were in the area after a tip off, and foiled the robbery. Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to assist.
