A ROCK choir will attempt to set a world record for the most people singing a song simultaneously, during a charity event at a St Albans school.

The annual Rob's Festival, held in memory of Rob Williams, a former Beaumont School pupil who died in a ski accident in 2009, will feature the UK Rock Choir of more than 500 singers.

The festival, now in its third year, is being held on Saturday, June 23, at the school in Oakwood Drive.

The event raises money for The Rob Williams Enterprise Fund, in conjunction with the Prince's Trust and has so far raised more than £30,000.

This year, as well as the world record attempt and music from bands, there will be a five-a-side football tournament, dance acts and stalls.

Organiser Steve Machell said: "As the festival evolved we saw a fantastic opportunity to give something back to Beaumont School, by giving the students the opportunity to be involved with organising and running the event themselves."
