Employees from a Harpenden supermarket have visited Batford Spings Local Nature Reserve to see how money they have donated is being spent.
Earlier in the year Sainsbury’s donated £200 to the cause.
Staff joined Councillor Rosemary Farmer, the town’s deputy mayor to watch as volunteers from the reserve to carried out maintenance work and trimmed treas in the area.
Kevin Carway, deputy store manager, said: “It’s really great to get involved in truly local community projects.
“The work that the volunteers carry out is vital to sustaining a great beauty spot and leisure facility enjoyed by the local community.
Ownership of the nature reserve has recently returned to the town council.
Councillor Farmer said: “I was impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of all the volunteers.
“The donation from Sainsbury’s will help them continue their important works on out beautiful haven at Batford.”
