Free parents courses are being set up in St Albans by an internet blogging website.

Netmums is running government-backed classes to help cash-strapped new parents across the county.

The course is made up of weekly emails containing hints and tips from other parents.

It covers subjects including birth plans, labour, bonding with the baby and dealing with siblings.

Hayley Davies, the editor of Netmums Hertfordshire, said: “Pregnancy and birth can be an expensive time, as parents have to pay out for so many things.

“Our new Netmums Online Pregnancy and Birth course will help local mums save money – and it will also save time as parents-to-be can study it at a time to suit them instead of being tied to attending a class.”

Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “The courses are free to sign up for and we’re finding them a big hit with dads too.

“Parents-to-be can also chat to others in the Hertfordshire area.”
