RESIDENTS in a St Albans street who are at their wits' end with reappearing potholes are calling on Hertfordshire County Council to take immediate action to repair the state of the road.
More than 30 people living in Woodstock Road South have signed a petition which will be sent to the Highways Panel meeting next week.
County Councillor Chris White said despite temporary repairs on the potholes around three weeks ago they are back with a vengeance.
He says while driving in the area he saw one resident has resorted to producing their own sign with the words 'and potholes' immediately under a warning about speed humps.
Councillor White said: “I have managed to persuade the county council that this road cannot wait several years.
“But it is now clear that it cannot even wait several months. I have asked for an update.”
He also said this weekend his daughter was faced with a burst tyre after she hit an unmarked pothole in Drakes Drive.
Since the big freeze at the beginning of the year Hertfordshire County Council has estimated it will cost around £5.5 million to repair the road network which has been plagued by potholes.
The Review has contacted the county council for information on the repairs.
