Council council responds to pothole complaints in St Albans

HERTFORDSHIRE County Council has confirmed a road in St Albans is due for resurfacing to repair a series of potholes.

Readers have complainted of “small craters” plaguing the districts roads since the big freeze earlier this year.

Speaking about Woodstock Road South John Camp, spokesman for the county council, said: “These would have been temporary repairs which are being used on this road at present as it is due for resurfacing work in the spring/summer.

“Unfortunately the floods, freeze, thaw action of the weather over the recent months does cause damage to road surfacing and can cause repairs to come out again – this is not a reflection on the standard of the work.”

He added that permanent patch repairs would have been carried out with immediate effect to Woodstock Road South if no subsequent work is planned.

The roads in and around St Albans are outrageous, what with a General Election coming up, you think the council would put peoples safety first to endeavour to repair these awful potholes. I live near the town Centre and just as you go into Normandy road there is a huge hole enough to perhaps cause a serious accident. It has already ruined my car to the tune of nearly £1000, and I am sure many people have experienced many repairs to their vehicles, with out any compensation. We are now approaching April and are still exposed to safety issues with regards to these roads, I and many others would like answers as to why they have not been repaired Kimberley Thornton
